Bits of wisdom and denialist chum from Judith Curry

Curry on trolling

with 3 comments

Did you expect to get so much reaction to this post.?It’s incredible.
– John Ritson

no i did not expect this much reaction. Gavin showing up here sort of insured the reaction.
– Judith Curry

So, you going over to WUWT and advertising that Gavin had commented had nothing to do with it???

Sheesh Judith.
– Michael

You advertised the comment yourself and this is reflected in the fact that there is now a full post at WUWT in relation your comment there and Gavin’s comments here.

To then claim Gavin is responsible for the attention when you yourself advertised it on sites known to be hostile to his position is astounding.

I can’t predict in advance when a thread will generate a lot of activity; I’m learning that anything with “climategate” in it is likely to have a lot of traffic.

  1. This is slowly turning into a very interesting collection of damning quotes. My compliments. There should be one of these for every contrarian/(pseudo-)skeptic/denier out there.

  2. Steven Sullivan, my point is that a starting point for communication is for scientists have a clear and coherent logical scientific argument, which includes an assessment of uncertainties and ignorance. Once we have that, we can start figuring out how to communicate it effectively. In the absence of such an argument, we can either say we don’t really know, or let the two sides of a polarized political debate slug it out. The problem is that what the climate establishment has been trying to communicate is unconvincing, from a science perspective, from a common sense perspective, and from a policy perspective. The communication problem isn’t just a “how” problem, but rather a “what” problem.

  3. Can MT’s comment above – which is a quote from JC – be enclosed with quotation marks please, to make it clearer that he’s reporting what she said, not what he thinks?
